SUMMARY:First FAIR-EASE Webinar
DESCRIPTION:In a world where all societal and scientific challenges are intertwined\, it is urgent to launch multidisciplinary initiatives and projects so that scientists from different domains can collaborate. In order to carry out multidisciplinary projects\, it becomes essential to develop gateways between metadata standards that will allow the matching of data representations designed for different domains. The opening of these gateways is therefore necessary for developing services across the disciplines\, which is the focus of the FAIR-EASE project. \nRegister now \nFAIR-EASE focuses on opening these gateways for the earth and environmental sciences which require a large volume of data from sources such as satellite\, in-situ observations\, models\, and even omics experiments. Earth system domains are interconnected\, but the present digital architecture is based essentially on distributed and domain-dependent data repositories inducing real difficulties for integrated uses of all the environmental data. This creates barriers for several studies with large societal impacts\, such as climate change\, agriculture and food\, human safety and health. \nObjective of the webinar \nIn this dedicated webinar on 6 April 2023\, 13:00-14:00 CET\, FAIR-EASE will present the distributed and integrated services for observation and modelling of the Earth system\, environment and biodiversity being developed in close cooperation with user-communities\, the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) and research infrastructures in their design and sustainable availability. \nThe meeting has the purpose to involve external communities\, share our vision and objectives and receive feedback. \nWho should attend and why? \nAnyone who is interested in Earth systems or environmental data and easily accessing them and integrating them across domains should attend\, but most especially: \n\nResearch and academia representatives who are interested in discovering the potential outcomes of integrating multidisciplinary data in their research;\nPolicy makers at the European\, national and even local levels that seek integrated cross-domain data to support decision-making;\nEOSC Ecosystem members who want to know more about how FAIR-EASE fits into EOSC’s FAIR data and services\nEarth and environmental data providers that want to see how to promote further use of their data\nGeneral public with an interest in earth systems and environmental data\n\nLearn more

SUMMARY:Shaping Data Spaces in Germany and Europe - Impulses from Science
DESCRIPTION:The German Council for Scientific Information Infrastructures (RfII) in cooperation with the Volkswagen Foundation\, is organising the Herrenhausen Conference entitled “Shaping Data Spaces in Germany and Europe – Impulses from Science” on 24 and 25 April 2023 at the Xplanatorium (Herrenhausen Palace) in Hannover. \nThe aim of the conference is to initiate an interdisciplinary exchange that explores the need and necessary prerequisites and competences for the use of the emerging information infrastructures. Questions of sustainable governance and financing of the infrastructures will also be addressed. The conference is aimed at the various actors from research\, infrastructures and science funding in Germany who are interested in data-intensive science\, and focuses on the perspective of the users. The conference will develop theses that will provide impulses for further development and expansion. \nFurther information\, the detailed programme and the possibility to register can be found under the following link: \nhttps://www.volkswagenstiftung.de/de/veranstaltungen/datenräume-in-deutschland-und-europa-gestalten-impulse-der-wissenschaft (in German)

SUMMARY:EU Knowledge Valorisation Week
DESCRIPTION:Registrations for the EU Knowledge Valorisation Week 2023 (25 – 28 April) are now open. The Week brings together research and innovation actors to exchange experiences\, discuss current trends and challenges\, and highlight valorisation opportunities with a wide range of stakeholders. \nRegister now! \nThe EU Knowledge Valorisation Week 2023 will feature themed days devoted to sustainability\, management of intellectual assets and industry-academia cooperation. \nThe event will be an opportunity to explore the potential of the Guiding Principles for Knowledge Valorisation. In the ‘Valorisation Talks’\, practitioners will explain how the brand-new Codes of Practice on intellectual assets management and on standardisation will help R&I actors. The webinars will showcase excellent and concrete examples of how to put these guidance documents into practice for the public good and individual goals. These best practices of knowledge valorisation have been submitted by stakeholders through an open call on the EU Knowledge Valorisation Platform. \nFor the first time\, the EU Knowledge Valorisation Week will offer hands-on training for researchers\, young innovators and anybody interested\, thereby contributing to the European Year of Skills. The European Patent Office (EPO)\, the EU IP Helpdesk and the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) are offering free online courses to improve skills in intellectual assets management. \nWe would appreciate if you could help us promote the EU Knowledge Valorisation Week 2023 through your respective networks and communication channels. You are free to use the promotional material we have attached to this email.

DESCRIPTION:The 3rd eRImote workshop will take place on April 26th (9:30-16:00 UTC) as an in-person event in London. The workshop will focus on the governance\, policy\, funding and impact implications of increased remote/digital access to research infrastructure services. In line with the entire eRImote project\, this workshop will take a cross-domain approach and aims to identify common themes and shared future perspectives across the RI landscape towards improved resilience through digital and remote access. \nPlease find more information and the registration from for the event here. \neRImote (https://erimote.eu/) is a Horizon Europe funded project that aims to improve remote and digital access to research infrastructure services in a cross-domain manner. As part of this project\, we are organising workshops around aspects of remote and digital access where experts can share their experiences and solutions\, as well as discuss common challenges with the community.
