SUMMARY:Webinar: Archive your software to the Software Heritage
DESCRIPTION:Software Heritage\, the universal source code archive\, has the ambitious goal to collect\, preserve and share all publicly available software in source code form. Recognizing that source code embodies our technical and scientific knowledge\, it is crucial to archive\, reference describe and cite software the same way we do with publications and data. In the EU project FAIRCORE4EOSC\, a dedicated team is missioned with the task to identify and archive the relevant software for academia in general and for the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC)\, in particular. The EOSC-Core components are included as a primary aim to be saved for the long term in the universal source code archive\, Software Heritage.  It is important to note that archiving any software repository is extremely easy with the save code now feature\, where anyone can save any code (like archive.org’s Wayback machine). Though saving is easy\, finding is hard. This is why preparing the code for archival with machine-actionable metadata can ensure the Research Software and the EOSC-Core components are findable. \nIn this webinar\, we introduce the Software Heritage archive features and present guidelines to better archive code repositories. We will detail the steps on how you can prepare the service repositories so as to help us easily index them and archive them in Software Heritage. Be prepared and make sure your source code is hosted on a repository publicly accessible (Github\, Bitbucket\, a GitLab instance\, an institutional software forge\, etc.) using one of the version control systems supported by Software Heritage\, currently Git\, Subversion and Mercurial. We will present a set of well-established best practices to make the repository indexable. A linked data metadata file will assist in indexing your source code in the Software Heritage archive and provide an easy way to link to other related research outputs. \n\nHow to easily find archived repositories of EOSC Core services\nExplaining the process and show examples with Software Heritage\nHow to prepare your repository to be archived in Software Heritage\n\nAgenda\nTiming is in CEST \n11:00 – Overview and introduction of the concept – Morane Gruenpeter\, Software Heritage \n11:20 – How to Prepare / Store a Service Repository to make it preservable and accessible on the long term – Themis Zamani\, GRNET \n11:40 – Q&A and interactive session    \nWho should attend\n\nRepository owners\nService providers\nResearch and e-Infrastructures\n\nRegister now

SUMMARY:DataCite Open Hours: EOSC PID Graph
DESCRIPTION:Join the next DataCite’s Open Hours on 5 July 2023\, the event will be dedicated to the EOSC PID Graph Component (FAIRCORE4EOSC work). \nThis edition will provide a comprehensive overview of our latest project focused on supporting service workflows for generating data dumps related to community profiles. Our PID Graph Component encompasses several subcomponents\, including PID Graph Nodes Metadata Harvesting\, PID Graph Links Metadata Harvesting\, PID Graph Nodes Metadata Dumps\, Usage Activity Tracking Widget\, Usage Activity Processing\, Link Capturing Agents\, and PID Querying Services. These functionalities are aimed at streamlining the harvesting of the PID Graph metadata\, and facilitating the ingestion and reuse of this metadata by the EOSC community and other related services. \nProgram and registration

SUMMARY:Webinar: the Mythical Data Lake
DESCRIPTION:The webinar will dive deeper into this FAIR-EASE component and how it is being developed to innovate the access to cross domain research data. \nObjective of the webinar \nIn this webinar it will be discussed the “Data Lake” infrastructure improving access to data both in terms of data harmonisation and in terms of technical efficiency of data access \nThe discussion will focus on the transformative journey from a ‘data lake’ to a dynamic ‘data space.’ Furthermore\, it will explore a modern web-based perspective on this architecture\, where the FAIR-EASE team’s vision has been shaped by both the project’s unique challenges and the insights derived from computer science research. It will therefore explore innovative approaches to federated queries on a distributed knowledge graph. Additionally\, it will shine a spotlight on Examind\, and dive into a talk centred around geospatial interoperability. \nThe objective of this meeting is to engage external communities\, communicate our vision\, and solicit valuable feedback. \nWho should attend and why? \nAnyone who is interested in Earth systems or environmental data and easily accessing them and integrating them across domains should attend\, but most especially: \n\nResearch and academia representatives who are interested in discovering the potential outcomes of integrating multidisciplinary data in their research;\nPolicy makers at the European\, national and even local levels that seek integrated cross-domain data to support decision-making;\nEOSC Ecosystem members who want to know more about how FAIR-EASE fits into EOSC’s FAIR data and services\nEarth and environmental data providers that want to see how to promote further use of their data\nGeneral public with an interest in earth systems and environmental data\n\nAgenda \n\n15:00 – 15:05: Welcome\n15:05 – 15:20: From Data Lake to Data Space – Marc Portier (VLIZ)\n15:20 – 15:35: Novel approaches for decentralized knowledge graph querying in Data Space contexts – Julian Andres Rojas Melendez (UGent-imec)\n15:35 – 15:50: Examind and Geospatial Interoperability – Dorian Ginane (Geomatys)\n15:50 – 16:00: Q&A\, Wrap-up & closure\n\nRegister now \nLearn more

SUMMARY:RAISE Science Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The RAISE project is organizing a webinar entitled “RAISE Science Webinar: a transparent way of sharing and processing data” that will be held on July 13\, 2023\, at 11:00 am CET. \nThis online event will introduce stakeholders an initial mock-up of RAISE’s unique approach that brings the processing algorithm (small in size) directly to the dataset (large in size)\, instead of requiring the dataset to be downloaded to the computer where the algorithm is located. An initial demonstration using wireframes will be done. The current mock-up is an interactive version that demonstrates the basic functionalities of the Research Analysis Identifier (RAI) System. The navigation through basic features will help the participants understand better the system and\, also\, provide valuable insights for the improvement of user experience. \nThe goal of this webinar is to showcase the value of not only accessing data\, but also processing it conveniently. \n>> Agenda and registration
