SUMMARY:1st Conference on Research Data Infrastructure (CORDI)
DESCRIPTION:Connecting Communities\nResearch data form the basis for knowledge and innovation throughout all scientific disciplines. They play a fundamental role in the progress of our society. The key to using these data treasures is an effective infrastructure. With the first edition of the Conference on Research Data Infrastructure from 12 to 14 September 2023\, the Association German National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) is initiating a conference that will focus on establishing interdisciplinary research data management (RDM). Under the theme Connecting Communities\, national and international stakeholders from all research fields as well as from the infrastructure sector are invited to present their contributions to an excellent RDM of the future and to exchange information about the latest developments. NFDI is organizing the conference in cooperation with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). NFDI contributors as well as all other RDM interested stakeholders will have the opportunity to meet at the KIT South Campus. \nOver the course of three days\, topics related to RDM and the joint development of an effective research data infrastructure for Germany and beyond will be examined from a wide variety of perspectives. Scientific presentations\, a panel discussion\, exciting keynotes\, a poster session and networking activities are planned. The Conference on Research Data Infrastructure stands for more comprehensive knowledge through better use of research data\, for innovations and the resulting social benefits. \nMore than 800 participants are expected at CORDI from NFDI\, EOSC and other initiatives. EOSC-A President Karel Luyben will be one of the featured speakers at the event.

SUMMARY:National Tripartite Event Spain
DESCRIPTION:The EOSC National Tripartite Event took place on September 19\, 2023\, in Madrid.\nUnder the auspices of the Spanish presidency of the Council of the EU\, the event brought together the three key actors in the governance of EOSC\, namely the European Commission (EC)\, EOSC Steering Board (EOSC-SB)\, and the EOSC Association. Welcoming the entire community\, this event provides a platform for alignment\, guidance\, and outreach to new stakeholders. \nLast year\, in October 2022\, a joint tripartite event between Portugal and Spain was organised\, in parallel to the IBERGRID Conference\, in Faro. The event aimed to showcase success stories and best practices\, raise awareness of the EOSC concept\, share training opportunities\, identify collaborations\, and reinforce the Spanish and Portuguese EOSC ecosystem. In 2023\, the NTE in Spain will focus on the alignment with the objectives of the EOSC Multi-Annual Report (Multi-Annual Report) MAR 23-24 (Expansion to production that generates added value) and MAR 25-27 (Expansion to develop impact from Open Science). These objectives will serve as a foundation for fostering progress and advancements within the EOSC framework. \nOf particular interest during the event will be the exploration of Open Science in Data Intensive Scientific Communities\, encompassing a diverse range of disciplines. \nAttendees will have the opportunity to delve into the latest developments in Astronomy\, Photonics and Neutronics\, Biodiversity\, Social Sciences\, Humanities\, Health Data\, Genomics Data\, and Oceanography Data. The aim is to promote cross-disciplinary cooperation and foster a better understanding of the transformative potential of open science in these fields. \nThe draft programme promises a rich and engaging experience\, featuring keynote presentations\, panel discussions\, interactive and networking opportunities. \nParticipants can expect to gain valuable insights\, establish new collaborations\, and contribute to shaping the future of EOSC. Join us at the EOSC National Tripartite Event in Spain and be part of this collective movement.

SUMMARY:EOSC-A at the Science Summit at the UN General Assembly
DESCRIPTION:The International Science Council and its partners will organise the 9th edition of the Science Summit around the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA78) on 12-29 September 2023. \nThe role and contribution of science to attaining the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be the central theme of the Summit. The objective is to develop and launch science collaborations to demonstrate global science mechanisms and activities to support the attainment of the UN SDGs\, Agenda 2030 and Local2030. The meeting will also prepare input for the United Nations Summit of the Future\, which will take place during UNGA79 beginning on 12 September 2024. \nThe Summit will examine what enabling policy\, regulatory and financial environments are needed to implement and sustain the science mechanisms required to support genuinely global scientific collaborations across continents\, nations and themes. Scientific discovery through the analysis of massive data sets is at hand. This data-enabled approach to science\, research and development will be necessary if the SDGs are to be achieved. \nFor the first time\, the Science Summit at the United Nations General Assembly will examine how equitable access to big science institutions can accelerate the progress of the UN’s sustainable goals such as tackling poverty and hunger. \nThe Science Summit will begin with a Digital Science Plenary on 12-13 September 2023 with Thematic Sessions planned until the end of the Summit on the 29th. \nSuzanne Dumouchel\, Head of International Coordination at CNRS and member of the Board of Directors of EOSC-A\, will give two presentations there on September 20th and 21st respectively. \n1)    Wednesday\, September 20\, 11:00am EDT \n[VIRTUAL] A People Centered Approach to developing Digital Regulation (201101) (Speakers: dumouchel)Mei Lin Fung • Sofie Maddens • Effrain Gonzalez • Suzanne Dumouchel • Christine Asjoma \n2)    Thursday\, September 21\, 9:00am EDT \n[IN-PERSON] 50th Anniversary of the Internet: A People Centered future (210913)LIMITED Doreen Bogdan Martin • Vint Cerf • Amandeep Gill Singh • Secretary General • Suzanne Dumouchel • Don Graves • Amir Banifatemi • Ndemo Bitange • Christine Asjoma

SUMMARY:Open Science Fair 2023
DESCRIPTION:Open Science Fair 2023 aims to bring together and empower open science communities and services; to identify common practices related to open science; to see what are the best synergies to deliver and operate services that work for many; and to bring experiences from all around the world and learn from each other. \nOSFair2023 is organized as an emblematic initiative of OpenAIRE. This year the event will be co-organized with FECYT\, from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation\, key European projects and global initiatives. \nOpen science (also referred to as open scholarship) is at a crossroads. Implementation and adoption are progressing\, with researchers\, research institutions\, funding agencies\, service providers and infrastructures all engaging at various levels. However\, different models are emerging which produce a seemingly fragmented ecosystem and achieve small steps on top of traditional scholarly communication system. In order to enable international and interdisciplinary research\, we need to ensure interoperability across communities and services while still maintaining our ability to support diversity of workflows and knowledge systems. \nwww.opensciencefair.eu
