EOSC Association Newsletter #35

The EOSC Association’s 8th General Assembly is rapidly approaching, and registration will close next Monday, 13 May. If you have not done so already, now is the time to finalise your plans to attend the most important EOSC-A event on the calendar, where you can exercise your rights as Members.

With this newsletter we also announce that registration is open for October’s EOSC Symposium in Berlin. In addition to the publication of a draft programme, including the six selections for Unconference Sessions, the organisers have opened a Call for Posters where you can showcase your contributions to implementing EOSC.

Following the meeting of the EOSC Partnership’s Tripartite Governance in Brussels this past month, the shaping of the EOSC Federation has continued to move forward quickly. A new “Tripartite Group” has been established as a coordination and support mechanism for building the EOSC Federation, and EOSC-A has been given a mandate to continue leading the development of the EOSC Federation Handbook. Read more about these developments below, and please visit our new EOSC Federation webpage to keep updated on the latest developments.

Many more updates on activities from April, and others forthcoming in May, are highlighted below, including National Tripartite Events in Belgium, Croatia and the Netherlands, an update on the new Task Forces, and the release of the Winter School 2024 full report.

Note that to facilitate both the SRIA 2.0 consultation as well as the Additional Activities surveys, EOSC-A is offering several informational webinars for the community this month.

In addition to loads of INFRAEOSC project news and new open calls, we call your attention to two National Tripartite Events taking place this month: the first for the Belgian EOSC community and the second for the Croatian. EOSC Association newsletter #33

Registration has opened up for our 8th General Assembly in May, and all Members and Observers are invited to participate. Please register as soon as possible, and check out the Leuven accommodations where we have reserved rooms for the event. While you are at it, please also update your membership information through our handy online form.

Membership fee invoices will be issued from 15 March, so be sure to keep an eye out for an email from invoices@eosc.eu. We urge you to remain vigilant against phishing attempts, and remember to always verify that the invoice is authentic (see below for more info).

March is also the deadline to submit a proposal for an ‘Unconference Session’ to be featured at October’s EOSC Symposium 2024. If you have an idea for a topic or issue where you would like to focus the EOSC community’s attention, please get your submission in by 18 March.

We begin this month’s newsletter with, of all things, a phishing alert! Please read it carefully so you may not fall victim to these scams, which we are monitoring closely.

We likewise call your attention to three very important calls-to-action, which we urge you to take a close look at: the EOSC Symposium 2024 has opened its call for “Unconference” sessions (to be chosen by the EOSC community); all organisations in the EOSC-A membership are asked to update their delegate information using our website; and the EOSC-A National Tripartite Event: Belgium, held under the auspices of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU, invites you to register as soon as possible for the April event!

Dear Members and friends of the EOSC Association,

Happy New Year and best wishes for a healthy, prosperous, and peaceful 2024!

Welcome to the EOSC-Association’s first newsletter of the new year. January will bring more opportunities for collaboration with the launch of seven new EOSC-related Horizon Europe projects.

The future of the EOSC Federation and the role of EOSC Nodes will be discussed with the community through various actions in 2024, starting off with two online webinars for our members on January 16th and 17th.

The news from the European Commission, with the contracts awarded by the end of the year 2023, anticipates a year of progress for the implementation of SIMPL, supporting data access and interoperability among European data spaces. The latest meeting of the EOSC Partnership Board provided an opportunity to discuss the next steps for engaging the community in analysing the governance and funding models, the main topic for the European Tripartite Event on April 16th, under the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The meeting also enabled considerations on stakeholder involvement at country and institutional levels, a key driver of action in 2024.

We also want to invite you to please SAVE THE DATE: the in-person-only GA #8 will be held on May 27th-28th. Other highlights include our interview with York Sure-Vetter from Germany’s Mandated Organisation, NFDI.

EOSC Association newsletter #30

Our heartfelt thanks for making the EOSC-A 7th General Assembly a great success. The consensus decisions taken at the meeting have put the Association on firm ground heading into 2024. Below you will see an invitation to provide feedback on the Board’s “Nodes” position paper, presented at the GA, as well as to attend informational webinars on the topic in January.

Please block your calendars for the 8th General Assembly: 27-28 May 2024. We are still working on the location, but plan on an in-person lunch-to-lunch meeting, and playing an active role in this critical step toward a post-2027 EOSC.

Other highlights from November include the EOSC European Tripartite Event, the results of DG CNECT’s procurement of “managed services for EOSC”, and recaps of the latest EOSC National Tripartite Events, held last month in Kraków and Ljubljana.
